Shelley Erdman

Shelly G. Erdman, M.A., is a Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider, a National Certified Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Partner Specialist. Shelly is a betrayal trauma specialist with advanced training in the formal therapeutic disclosure process and works with clients through Connection Therapy Group in Brentwood, TN.

Shelly recently suspended her full clinical practice working with individual clients. Currently, she is working on various research and writing projects, presentations, and clinical designs. In addition to her professional experience, Shelly is a doctoral student in Trevecca’s PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision program.

 

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe how to recognize a possible need to suspend clinical counseling practice, identify specific circumstantial requirements involved in suspension, and decide on the logistics of suspension.
  2. Select, implement, and document an ethically sound plan to prepare for challenges of suspending clinical practice.
  3. Communicate the decision to suspend practice with clients, employers, colleagues, referral sources, peers, and others.
  4. Identify and mitigate person of the therapist issues related to suspension of practice.
