Carol T. Smith is a licensed Marital & Family Therapist, AAMFT approved supervisor, and a trainer for ACPE’s Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy (SIP) training program. Carol is the Training Director at Insight Counseling Centers, a non-profit counseling organization with 11 locations in Middle Tennessee. She supervises interns and pre-licensed counselors and sees clients in Insight’s Franklin office and through telehealth.
Chris O’Rear is a licensed Clinical Pastoral Therapist in Tennessee and is the owner & Director of The Counseling Center, PLLC, a professional pastoral counseling center with three locations in Middle Tennessee. Chris holds a Master of Divinity in pastoral care and counseling and a Master of Marriage & Family Therapy. He is an ordained minister currently endorsed by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship to the work of Pastoral Counseling. He is a Pastoral Psychotherapy Supervisor and a former President of the Tennessee Association of Pastoral Therapists.
Learning Objectives:
a) Identify basic presuppositions of Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy.
b) Define a holistic understanding of humans.
c) Identify ethical principles that guide therapist’s integration of spirituality and religion in therapy.
d) Understand the difference between explicit and implicit spiritual language.
e) Recognize and respond to spiritual openings that clients offer.
