Virtue ethics are the character qualities that the therapist brings into their therapeutic work.
They influence our work often without us even being aware of them.
Dr. Bruce McCurdy is a licensed Psychologist in full-time practice, serves as Director of The Counseling Center at Christ Community Church and is an Adjunct Professor of Professional Standards and Ethics in the Graduate Counseling Program at Trevecca Nazarene University. He trains and consults therapists and mental health professionals on how to apply relevant ethical principles with emerging ethical trends to provide the highest level of transformative professional psychological and counseling services.
After this presentation participants will be able to:
1. Define what virtue ethics are and how they are an intrinsic part of therapy.
2. Describe 3 ways virtue ethics impact their therapeutic work with clients regardless of which model(s) the use.
3. Identify 3 virtue-based strategies that clients can use to improve outcomes of any interventions they take away from their counseling.
