Hello! My name is Anna White, I’m from Nashville, and I’ve always been captivated by human nature and spirituality. I gravitated towards theater as a teenager and psychology as my college major. During my college years at the University of Tennessee, I met my husband, and our early marriage taught us profound lessons in compromise and commitment. Launching my counseling education at Lipscomb University in 2010, I entered into various settings including private schools and churches. I was hired to work in a private school setting where I interned after graduation. Figuring out one’s path in young adulthood can present many challenges. Friends are dispersing, relationships are confusing, and the responsibilities begin to pile up. It was at this point that my passion for working with teenagers, particularly girls, ignited, witnessing their courageous journey of self-discovery and identity formation in a culture that sends a message that we aren’t enough. But the truth is, with God, we absolutely are. I feel honored to work with teenage girls on managing anxiety, coping skills, self-esteem, boundaries, values, and relationship skills. I enjoy working with teenagers because they are new to independence, have a clarity of perception, and are so dynamic. In 2014, my husband and I started a new adventure into parenthood, prompting our choice to pause my career to focus on caregiving. Now, with three children, one who is neurodivergent with complex medical needs, we are navigating the joys and formidable challenges of raising our kids. I decided to return to counseling to use my lived experience doing the work I love in April of 2024. As both a therapist and a mother, I deeply empathize with clients grappling with the complexities of balancing self-care, relationships, marriage, careers, and parenting. Navigating the mental load as mothers is undeniably one of the toughest challenges we face. We can forget who we are outside of our role as a caregiver. We keep going and going and find ourselves numb and burned out. Often, it becomes overwhelming, and managing it alone feels impossible. With my lived experience, I really get it. I love to help clients in this phase of life get curious about what’s showing up for them today and helping them figure out what their needs are and how to get them met in healthy ways. My current caseload spans ages 16-40 and I work in affiliation with Cypress Counseling Group in Brentwood, TN.
